DP Retreat in Baturiti

On Friday the BIS grade 11 students travelled to Baturiti on a 2-day retreat, as part of the induction to the IB Diploma Programme. The retreat was organised with the intention of developing relationships, and help the students gain a deeper understanding of core components of the IB Programme, which they are about to begin.

The Students had a balanced mixture of fun activities, learning sessions, and physical challenges. Whether they were exploring aspects of CAS and TOK, or how to creatively interpret a particularly puzzling concept; the students enjoyed the opportunity to put their learning into a real world context. They were also challenged to somewhat step outside of their comfort zone – camping with very limited access to mobile devices and home comfort.

What do I bring to the TOK classroom?

Throughout the stay the students were encouraged to learn more about themselves, their peers and teachers; their preferred learning style; and how to set and achieve positive goals for themselves. In doing so, students reflected upon what might be holding them back in certain areas, and began a positive process that will hopefully result in high school success, and beyond.

On behalf of the teaching staff on the trip: Ms Holley, Mr Walsh, Mr Delhommmeu, I would like to thank the grade 11 students for their positive attitude, inclusive initiatives and willingness to actively participate in all activities; as well as openly sharing experiences and thoughts with everyone.

Thank you and well done!
