Secondary EOTC 13-16 September

All Secondary students will be experiencing Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) through year group camps, September 13-16, 2016.

Learning does not only occur in the classroom and experiences can be used to connect to the curriculum. All students learn in different ways and connecting academics to authentic experiences and other activities outside the classroom walls deepens understanding. In addition it will enable students to learn more about our host country, Indonesia, and its culture/history as well as develop stronger relationships within their grade group and with their teachers. It is an important component of the student academics at BIS.

This year’s EOTC experiences include:

  • Gr 6 – Darshan Tours to Tanah Wuk Valley, Sangeh Village in the Badung Regency.
  • Gr 7 – Darshan Tours to Golden Leaf Organic Farm in Wanagiri Village in the Buleleng Regency.
  • Gr 8 – Darshan Tours to Nusa Penida.
  • Gr 9 – Outward Bound Indonesia to Desa Kerta Payangan, Gianyar and to Mt Batur.
  • Gr 10 – Darshan Tours to Nusa Penida.
  • Gr 11/12 – Les Village in Buleleng.

The Outward Bound and Les Village groups held parent information sessions yesterday after school.

This Thursday, 1st of September, Yan Pasek from Darshan Tours will be holding a parent information session from 8.00-9.00am in Room 3 for all parents of students in Gr 6, 7, 8, and 10. I strongly encourage parents to attend this session to get a better understanding of the program of events, and the safety and security protocols, in place for your child on their EOTC experience.

Further information including full schedules, ‘what to bring’ lists and emergency contact details for each camp will be sent to each year group in the next week.
