University Visit: University College Dublin, Ireland and information about UK universities

University College Dublin will be visiting BIS on Monday May 8 at 12:30-1:10 in The Counselor’s Office.

UCD is a research university in Dublin, Ireland. It has about 32,000 students and it is Ireland’s largest university. It has 131 different nationalities and 25% of the student body is international. The university was founded in 1854. University College Dublin is frequently ranked among the top universities in Europe. There are five Nobel Laureates amongst University College Dublin’s alumni and current and former staff. UCD has 13 subjects in the top 100 in the world. For most courses tuitions range from 18,000-24,000 euros for non EU passport holders. For EU passport holders fees generally range from about 6000-9000 euros.

UCAS (the online application portal for UK universities) has a few updates:

  • Starting May 9th they will be launching a new search tool with many great functions.
  • Students can make their account with UCAS starting May 23rd and submit their application as early as September 6th. The deadline for submitting applications for most courses is January 15th, 2018.
  • UCAS has released a new parent guide for UK applicants.
  • UK government confirms funding (financial support) for EU passport holders from 2018-2019. EU students will receive the same tuition fees as UK students.
