BIS Hosts BSSA Professional Development for Teachers

The BSSA was established in 2001 with the mission ‘to promote and provide opportunities for organized extracurricular student sporting events’.

On Friday the BIS PE Department hosted 19 sports teachers from the 9 member BSSA schools for a day of professional development in all the sports.

The purpose of the day was to share skills and training/teaching tips to help raise the overall level of BSSA competition but also to ensure rules and regulations were being equally applied amongst schools.

We began with a football session, then moved to basketball, volleyball, swimming and athletics. All sessions were active with participants having the opportunity to get involved in drills and to learn new skills. Over lunch we had an informative session on the available ipod apps that can be used to facilitate PE classes, coaching and also recording and judging events.

BIS was instrumental in the development of the BSSA and continues to push the advancement of the association for the benefit of your children. We have all football finals next week and next term’s sport will be volleyball. Please encourage your children to get involved.
