Update on Mount Agung Evacuee relief

Dear BIS community,

Before the holidays, the BIS community came together for the Mount Agung donation drive to help those who had to be evacuated because of the current situation with Bali’s active volcano.  As expressed in this post, our partner charity, the East Bali Poverty Project (EBPP), was extremely grateful to receive the extraordinary amount of donated items, and was able to quickly dispatch them in areas of need.

Building on this success, and recognising that the evacuee situation perdures, we would like to organise our second charity drive from the 20th to the 27th of October. As advised by the East Bali Poverty Project, we are collecting the following items:

Pre-School: Rice

Kindy: Rice

Grade 1: diapers

Grade 2: cooking oil

Grade 3: cooking oil

Grade 4: sterile Gauze / alcohol swabs

Grade 5: Plasters/band-aids – all sizes

Grade 6: rubber gloves

Grade 7: Insto or Rohto Eye drops

Grade 8: Minyak Kayu Putih

Grade 9: Antibiotic Ointment for wounds (betadine, etc)

Grade 10: Sanitary pads

Grade 11: Masks N95

Grade 12: Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) 3%

Additionally, we are also collecting blankets and sleeping mats.

BIS students are also working on their response in order to provide some entertainment for the evacuee children who are suffering from boredom. To that effect, a volleyball match took place of the 6th of October during which BIS students played alongside their less fortunate peers. The event took place in a fantastic atmosphere, with all students promising to play together again very soon.

Thank you for your support,
