Primary School Open House

We will host the Primary School Open House from 1:15 – 2:45 pm next Friday 24 August. Parents are invited to join us in the Multi Purpose room (MPR) for a 1:15pm start. After the first session has completed, parents are then able to go their child’s homeroom for a session presented by the homeroom teachers that will focus on grade specific information. Each teacher will present their session twice so that parents with more than one child can attend both.

13:45 – 14:10.             Homeroom Session 1

14:15 – 14:40.             Homeroom Session 2

14:45 – 14:50.             Student Dismissal

Meet the Teacher Pot Luck

Calling Parent Expertise and Interests

Students and teachers are always after experts to help them with their inquiry learning. Whether you are an expert in a field or simply have an interest, we’d love to know about it so that we can coordinate parents with teachers and classes to access throughout the year. All results will be shared with teachers so they can access it while planning their units of inquiry. You can complete the Google Form below or click on this link to access it.

Indonesian Independence Day

A special thank you to our Indonesian teaching staff and parents for organising such a fantastic celebration for all of our students. After the Flag Raising Ceremony at the start of the day, the Primary students participated in traditional Indonesian games on the big field. They started their morning break with Indonesian foods provided by the parents before returning to classes to start their Door Decoration Competition.

Morning Arrival

Thank you very much to the families who are ensuring that their children are arriving at school on time, but we have had some students coming late to school in the morning.  Our school day depends on organised, scheduled and predictable routines. If students come late to class, these routines that help to support them both in their social and learning environment become disrupted.

Please be reminded that our students have active supervision from 7.30 everyday.  This, in itself, is a wonderful chance for your child and their classmates or friends to catch up, kick a ball, or compare notes!  All students must be in their class and ready to learn by 7:45am where they are engaged in structured discussions and activities that are essential to a successful classroom. Teachers are happy to have parent catch up with them for a quick chat from 7:30am, but once the students are in class, the teachers focus is the students’ learning. If your child arrives on campus after 7.45, they must receive a late slip from Ibu Deni in the Primary Office and will be marked late on our school system. I will contact parents if a pattern of late attendance becomes apparent.

I thought I would share the article below  as it contains a few good ideas about morning routines.
