IISSAC FOOTBALL – BOYS CHAMPIONS, GIRLS RUNNERS UP!
In a dominant display, utilizing lessons learnt from last year’s disappointment, our Boys Senior Football team have become IISSAC Champions for the fourth time in just six years. This remarkable run of success has come after an eight year drought and is based on the excellent senior program started by Paddy Lyons and developed by Matt Wood, with the support of the coaches responsible for our developing players in the lower age groups. Mr Wood has been able to establish a culture of discipline and excellence amongst our players which other schools aspire to.
Our senior Girls were runners up this year using the full depth of their squad after some injuries to key players in the finals series. Like Mr Wood, Mr Lorenzini has transformed our girls team into a dedicated training group with the skills and game plan to take their first championship last year and into the final this year.
These results firmly place Bali Island School as the premier Football school in the IISSAC competition. This Thursday they will contest the BSSA Championship and though there are injuries to be carried and weary bodies from the intense competition of the weekend, hopes are high that our teams can return victorious.
