SENIOR GIRLS FOOTBALL REPORT

Well done to all the girls throughout the school who took part in this year’s football season. Eight teams played in tournaments this year and amazingly, six teams reached the finals. We managed to win three of these finals!
I would like to say a special thank you to the senior girls squad who worked with me this year. You are a fantastic group of individuals who have reached 4 finals in two years, winning two of them.
We were very close to becoming back to back winners at IISSAC a few days ago. Thank you for your disciplined performances and for playing with the right balance of dignity and humour. Congratulations also to the senior boys who were exceptional this year, completely dominating all competitions. Ending our season with double championship wins at this year’s BSSA was an excellent reward for this year’s efforts.
Goodbye to our marvellous 12 graders. Your passion for the game and your inclusiveness with the younger players has helped us to develop future championship teams…. we hope. Thank you to
  • Jael: Our captain whose presence and leadership at the back anchored our team. Jael spent most of the season kicking balls over the fence, but then unleashed a couple of outstanding low flying rockets to score important goals and earn herself the most valued player award.
  • Molly: Our injured heroine whose incredible goal tally over two seasons ensured that we were always in the finals. Molly has been unstoppable up front. Losing her just before the final this year was a bitter pill to swallow, but she stood strong behind the team till the final whistle. Other schools will be glad she is not returning.
  • Sierra: Our midfield dynamo who terrified the opposition with her pink socks and martial arts displays. Sierra is one of our most improved players this season. She probably scored the goal of the season in our semi-final… you can still view it on YouTube.
  • Ines: Our dynamic, defender, who helped to ensure that BIS conceded less goals than any other team both at IISSAC and BSSA. She has been an outstanding role model and like the rest of this vintage year, will be sorely missed.
Well done girls!
