TERM 3 STUDENT LIFE OUTLINE
Welcome to term 3 at Bali Island School and the great number of Student Life activities that you children have the opportunity to be involved in:
- After School Activities: Activities began yesterday in the areas of arts, sports, service, co-curricular and recreation and will continue until the 17th of March. Please ensure students are collected promptly from activities.
- BSSA Basketball: To start this term the BSSA sport is basketball. The boys and girls senior squads began training yesterday under the guidance of Mr Hopkins and Mr Watson with Mr Walsh in support. Tomorrow (Wednesday) all age group players (9/10yrs, 11/12yrs and 13/14/15yrs) will gather from 3-4pm on the courts to organise teams and training schedules while having their first practice. BSSA games will begin February 1st.
- BSSA Swimming: Swimming squad training has begun with sessions held Mondays and Thursdays from 3-4pm as well as Tuesday and Friday morning from 7.00-7.30am. We are very fortunate to have Mr Lenna, Mrs Wood, Mrs Walsh and Mr Wilson lending their considerable coaching skills to our program. These are open sessions allowing students to choose a schedule that fits with their other commitments. The BIS Swim Carnival is on March 10th and the BSSA on March 20th.
- IISSAC Basketball: This will take place from the 24th -26th of February at Wesley School in Malang and will involve our senior boys and girls squads of 12 players each.
- IISSAC Swimming: Though technically not this term, we are hosting the IISSAC Swimming April 28-30 this year and will be calling on parent volunteers to help us put our wonderful school community on show for the visiting schools. Please see Ant or Hamish if you will be available to assist.
- SEAMC: The ‘South East Asian Maths Competition’ will be held in Jakarta, March 2-4 this year. Mr Sareen and Ms Mathers are taking a group of our finest mathematicians to compete against the best in SE Asia.
- Career Day: On January 26, Ms Holley has arranged for a number of prominent guest speakers to come to speak with our Gr 9-12 students regarding the particular career paths each of them have taken. Students will get to select 3 sessions of particular interest to them to gain insight into what it takes to become successful in each area. The morning will culminate with a talk from Mr Roger Hamilton regarding how students can each determine which particular career path might best suit them.
