Parent Information Session March 14: Guest Speaker, Wim Voorwalt – Pyschologist
Dear Parents,
The guest speaker session planned for Monday March 6 has been moved to Tuesday March 14 from 8:00-9:00 in Room 1. Our guest speaker, Wim Voorwalt, will be talking about “Setting Boundaries and Influencing Unwanted Behavior”. How do we stimulate desired behaviors and discourage disruptive ones? Many parents struggle at times with how to apply the principles of boundaries and behavior modification. Wim will explain these principles and possible pitfalls. There will also be time for questions and a discussion.
Wim is a psychologist registered by the Netherlands State Healthcare (GZ) and licensed to practice in the healthcare sector in a clinical environment. He is a member of the Netherlands Association of Psychology (NIP) and an NIP certified Adult and Child/Youth psychologist. Wim is also a certified Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and a member of the Netherlands/Belgian Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapy (ie VGCT). He has spent a long time working in clinics with young children and adolescents suffering from psychological and psychiatric problems and disorders. For many years, he was also part of a regional team for autism disorders, and during the past 10 years Wim held a private practice in the Netherlands for children and adolescents with psychological problems. He has recently started a practice in Bali. Wim’s professional view is to treat the issue(s) as quickly and effectively as possible, but also for as long as needed. His motto is ‘go with what works’. His methods include the latest scientifically proven techniques – again, applied quickly yet effective.
