Fitness Testing in PE
Both Primary and Secondary students have all undertaken a battery of fitness tests as part of their first unit in PE.
Students are tested for strength, speed, muscular endurance, power, flexibility and cardio-vascular endurance. This allows students to self assess their areas of strength and areas for development.
School records for these performances have been kept since 2005 and this year we saw 5 new records set and 2 records equalled:
- Raihan Woodhouse: horizontal jump (power) – 270cm
- Lani Manda Kasim: horizontal jump (power) – 214cm
- Nathan Turner: Sit and Reach (flexibility) – 30cm
- Shiho Mizukoshi: 12 minute run (CV endurance) – 2425m (held for 2 days)
- Isabela Walsh: 12 minute run (CV endurance) – 2900m
- Simon Brink: Grip Strength – 95kg (equal record)
- Tara Frowde: Sit and Reach (flexibility) – 29cm (equal record)
Congratulations to these new record holders and to all students who participated and learned more about their capabilities and the components of fitness.
