BSSA and IISSAC Swimming
Our swim team have covered countless laps, kilometers of hard and committed training, early morning starts and exhausting afternoons. All in the aim of improving their personal bests, of helping the swim team, and occasionally for the glory of a medal or ribbon on the podium. At all levels, the commitment to the Bali Island School Swim Team this year has been exceptional.
Our trip to IISSAC Swimming in Surabaya was an outstanding success. Personal bests were swum by everyone, medals and points collected, our parents were by far the greatest supporters, and at the end of day 3 Bali Island School were both Boys and Girls IISSAC Champions. It was a close finish and there were some nervous moments but our swimmers held strong and brought home the trophies.
Last Thursday we traveled to AIS for the first time to compete in the BSSA Swimming competition. Buoyed from our IISSAC success we were keen to hit the pool and test our skills against the best on the island. From the U/8’s through to our 16+ swimmers our team were magnificent. Not only in their swimming abilities but also in their support of each other and their school team. It was a fitting finale to the swim season to be crowned BSSA Champion School but the big surprise was the points. We have always had close finishes with Canggu but this year we were 130 points clear and nearly 300 points clear of the Green School in third place.
Special mention must go to the coaching staff of Maki Wood, Mary McDonald and in particular Jackie Wyncoll who has brought a new dimension of professionalism and commitment to our team.
