Message from the Head of School – January 15, 2021
Thank you to all of our BIS Dragons for digging into their learning in Week I of Semester II. I dropped into a few virtual classrooms and enjoyed seeing the happy and engaged students reconnecting with their peers and teachers.
While the vaccine rollout in Indonesia is exciting news, we have also been confronted with Bali’s increase in active cases. We remain hopeful that BIS will be able to open in an increased fashion soon, however, we would be remiss if we didn’t plan for and adjust as we proceed with our Distance Learning program. I have asked each Primary Homeroom teacher to survey parents to get feedback about the learning program over the past week. Please do respond to those requests. I would ask that secondary parents respond here – to this secondary distance learning program survey. We will ask secondary students to give feedback next week in the homeroom period. We appreciate the feedback in order to help us serve our learners as best we can.
Calendar note: In preparation to have students return on January 25, we will move the scheduled January 26 half-day to February 11 so that students aren’t starting face to face and then only coming for a ½ day the next day. January 26 is now a full day of school.
BIS 2021 Covid Travel Procedures
The Indonesian Government has recently increased the travel requirements for both domestic and international travel. The Health Committee is now requiring the following for our Bali Island School community until the government reduces the stricter measures. If and when that occurs, we will move back to our 14 day quarantine period.
