Message from the Head of School – May 7, 2021
International School Assessment (ISA)
Students are completing their ISA testing this week and next. The completed tests are sent back to Australia for marking and we will learn of the results in mid to late June. Normally we have tested students in February and have the results for our Year in Review presentation to the community, but this year due to many factors, we decided to push back the testing window. Individual student results will be shared with parents immediately, once received. The larger school wide data will be shared with our community in August.
I would like to thank Ibu Deni, Ibu Riana and Mr. Erickson for their efforts to pull off a seamless testing session. Well done!
Year in Review
The yearly Board/Head of School presentation to the community is scheduled for May 20 at 5:00 p.m. We will host this in the MPR, as the covered court will be used for the vaccination process, please make plans to attend if you are able. We will also provide a recording of the event to the community.
Distance Learning Challenges
I came across the following interview this week. I hope you find it interesting. Adam Grant’s article in the New York Times regarding languishing is also a timely read. Motivation after a year+ of online learning is posing significant challenges for students globally. As parents, we need to recognize it and then place systems of support for our children to recharge and mindfully reconnect. WIth the four day long weekend approaching, it may provide all of us with time to recalibrate, find a sense of balance, and support children where they are.
Enjoy the weekend and stay strong,
Garth
