Message from the Head of School – August 13, 2021
Community/Student Agreements
Please sit down with your BIS student this weekend and review each of our expectations. By clicking on the – I agree – checkbox, you and your child are committing to our community expectations. The expectations range from abiding by our Covid protocols to our use of technology, from behavior expectations to academic integrity. Thank you for spending this time to understand the BIS standards thoroughly with your child – important work. Please find the form here.
Student Vaccinations
25+ Secondary students are now fully vaccinated here in Indonesia with more having completed the vaccinations over the summer holidays in their home countries. Thank you for helping our Community, Bali and Indonesia recover from the Covid Pandemic. Ibu Surya and Ibu Yunita are already working on the next opportunity.
Bali Island School Key Performance Indicator Data Points
BIS identified KPI’s for our school a couple of years ago with the help of some parent volunteers and Board members. Our team reports on these yearly at our Year in Review report. We were not able to report on our ISA testing results last May as we pushed back our ISA testing due to pandemic pressures. Over the past several weeks, we received some new IB data as well.
Yesterday morning Klaus Weber, our DP Coordinator, presented our recent IBDP Results and I shared our ISA data.
If you were unable to attend, please see the presentations below. We remain extremely proud of our academic results, the students who managed to achieve these results, the faculty who facilitated student learning, and our parent/guardian teammates who supported learning from home in the most challenging of situations. Congratulations to all involved!
Indonesian Independence Day Celebration
The Commemoration of the 76th Independence Day of Indonesia this year brings a special theme “Indonesia Tough, Indonesia Grows”. Our Bahasa Indonesian Teaching Team and our Music Department is working on our annual Indonesian Independence Day Celebration virtually.
Please plan on joining us at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 at the following link:
We have it on good authority that some parents/faculty and staff are singing and dancing during the performance – Fantastic participation!
Enjoy the Day of Celebration on August 17! After this holiday, we move into the meat and potatoes section of Term I. Relationships are made, expectations set, and now we dig into our learning. Time to roll up our sleeves and learn!
Covid article – from The Atlantic – good information.
