Message from the Head of School – November 18, 2022
Thank you for your patience and understanding during the recent return to online learning last week, caused by the G20 summit. Note that regular face-to-face classes on campus recommence on Monday 21st November.
Reminder: We have discussed the JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) policy committee formation and now seek parent volunteers. If you wish to help make a difference in this important area of school life by joining the committee/working group, please contact me via headofschool@baliis.net and I shall be happy to add you to the committee. We seek 2-3 parents.
Strategic planning: another thank you to all parent and student volunteers who have been contributing to the school’s strategic planning process. Just to let you know that the process is on schedule after the meeting on Thursday 17th and the aim remains to have the plan finalized and ready for presentation towards the end of the academic year.
Our PTA will again be organizing events over the coming months and your continued support, as always, is highly appreciated. The PTA has been instrumental in rebuilding our sense of community spirit and please do consider volunteering to help out, even if just for a day, when an event is proposed. Many hands make light work!
Don’t forget, Thursdays are BATIK days!! Please ensure that your child/children wear their batik on Thursdays.
Health issues: note that if your child is not feeling well in any way, please keep others safe by keeping your child at home. This will help us all stay well and contribute to a healthy learning environment.
Safeguarding: I hope that parents have noticed our continued efforts in improving safeguarding at BIS. We have invested in new barriers, temperature checking machines, hand sanitizers and ‘sleeping policemen’ at the main gate in order to speed up the entry process and minimize accidents with motorbikes. We shall continue to improve safeguarding and welcome suggestions.
Future dates for the diary:
- Counsellor Workshop: Thursday 01st December, Primary and PS3, “Wellbeing and brain development in early years”.
- School holiday: School closes on Friday 16th December, half day, and recommences for students on Thursday 12th January, as per our school calendar.
