International Women’s Day by StuCo
Last March 8th, 2022 is the official day of International Women’s Day. In order to recognize the wonderful women in our lives as well as progress for gender equality, the Student Council celebrated this day by encouraging everyone to wear purple. In Homeroom, everyone also did the Kahoot and the top 3 winners from each homeroom received points for their house groups.
BIS Diploma Expo on March 17
Grade 10 students and parents are invited to attend the Diploma Expo and Pathways to Graduation event on March 17 (1:15 pm) in the covered court. The Expo allows grade 10 students and parents to explore the different subjects offered in Grades 11 and 12 at BIS and talk directly to subject facilitators (teachers and students) about the demands of each course. This will be beneficial when making subject selections for the next two years. See you all on Thursday, March 17.
Personal Project Exhibition
Students in Grade 10 have worked hard and turned in their final personal project reports! Please give a huge high five to those students for completing this long, incredibly challenging task. As this is the culminating project for the entire IB Middle Years Program, we originally planned the Personal Project Exhibition on March 10th. As we are still online, we have pushed the date back in order to hold this excellent showcase face-to-face!
Our new date is Thursday, April 7th! Please mark your calendars to come and speak to our students all about this amazing journey they took all about self-discovery and growth. We look forward to sharing with you their wonderful products, but more importantly all the wisdom they have learned.

ACT & SAT Upcoming Test Date
Please find the upcoming SAT & ACT test date and registration deadlines.
The SAT and the ACT are the two different tests that students are required to take for admittance to a US university. Tests are optional for students to take either the SAT or the ACT and submit their scores to their prospective universities. There is no advantage of taking one test over another, so it is important to choose the test that is best for you.

Service as Action
This week’s feature group is the SOS Food Drive and all the best to them for their upcoming drive. We now have until March 17 to bring oil, rice, salt, sugar, and any non-perishables to the room next to the nurse’s office!!!
Here are some words from Emma in grade 9.
Hello everyone, we are a Service as Action group, working with SOS (Scholars of Sustenance). Our main goal is to provide food to people who are currently in financially challenging situations, especially during times of Covid and many people finding themselves out of work. We organize and run food drives, gathering food donations from the BIS Community and transporting the ingredients to SOS headquarters, where we help cook and distribute foods to more heavily impacted communities in Bali.

Gracious Givers continues in the 2nd semester after a successful 1st semester of raising around 1 million rupiahs from a bake sale fundraiser. Gracious Givers is a BIS student Service as Action group supporting the Solemen organization. Solemen is a non-profit organization in Bali that helps the disabled and underprivileged community. Our goal this semester is to raise awareness and conduct a gofundme-like online fundraiser for I Kadek Dwi Yatmika, a 13-year-old boy who has a dream to attend college in the future. With the money raised, we will cover 1-year tuition for the school Kadek will be attending in Karangasem, Bali. This will be approximately 4 times the amount we raised last semester, equating to a staggering amount of 4 million IDR. With this being said, we would really appreciate your support and donations to help Kadek have a chance to experience such an amazing opportunity in his education and learning. To anyone who is willing to donate to our cause, the payment details are down below.. When transferring the money please PUT A REFERENCE TITLE SAYING “BIS DONATIONS” so that the Solemen organization are able to keep track.. Once the payment has been made, screenshot the payment proof and send it to zlin28@baliis.net. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.
