FRIDAY NEWSLETTER from Secondary – 20th Oct 2017

Week 11-Welcome Back

We have had an extremely successful first term.  I am so pleased with the amount of growth that I have seen from the student body.  The amount of challenges that out students took on this past term have been very encouraging.  I look forward to watching them continue to grow and push themselves.

We have students off at MUN, our relief efforts for the Mt. Agung camps continue and IISSAC Football will be traveling soon to represent BIS.

ASA’s to Start on Monday

This coming Monday our ASA program for the second term will be beginning. All students were provided with an electronic signup sheet with all of the choices listed. If your child has not joined an activity yet please encourage them to speak with the adviser and get involved. Religion lessons will also starts next week.

Secondary School Office Hours
In addition to our ASA’s secondary teachers are available after school on the specific days that they are not running an ASA.  Please have your child check with their teacher(s) for which day(s) that they are available after school.  The Math department has teachers available Monday and Wednesdays after school.

IISSAC

After a long season of training our men’s and women’s IISSAC teams will be traveling to represent BIS on the 28th of October.  Go Dragons!

Bali MUN

On Friday and Saturday of this week over 30 BIS Students participated in the Bali MUN conference. This is a great opportunity for our students to engage with current events, world problems and ongoing dialogue with their peers from other schools. I huge thank you to Ms. Mathers and Mr. Marshall for their help and support of our students and this program.

Mt. Agung Relief Efforts

Thank you for all of your support of the relocation camps for Mt. Agung. As a school we continue to support the camps here in Sanur. Mr. Delhommeau has done a fantastic job helping our students organize their relief efforts. These relief efforts will continue this term as well.  Thank you for all of your support.

College and University Fair

Several universities from Spain, USA, Canada and South Africa will be visiting BIS next week Thursday October 26 during period 2 and snack time. They will be offering workshops from 8:50-9:20. Students will have an opportunity to approach representatives individually after the workshops from 9:20-10:00. Parents are welcome to attend. See the flyer for attending institutions and workshops.

Final Thoughts

It has been a fantastic start to the school year.  I am thankful for the partnerships that have been developed between the school and it’s parents.  It is important to continue to work together towards the continued growth and success of our students.  Thank you again for a warm introduction to the BIS community and a productive start to the academic year.

Thank you for your continued interest and support of BIS and our students.

Kind Regards,

Justin Walsh
