What is a SLC?
It is a student-directed presentation where a child leads their parents through a presentation they have prepared using their electronic portfolio and any other materials at school. It will include samples from all areas of curriculum, which the child, with teacher guidance, has selected to show. It will include something important about the learning they have been doing, whether it is a good piece of work or one that shows an area that needs improvement.
What is the purpose of a SLC?
The purpose of a SLC is for students to accept responsibility for their work and to improve communication between the student and their parents. They also allow the parent to appreciate their child in a new way, gain insight into what their child is learning, and provide a chance to reflect and set goals with their child.
