Mother Tongue Day celebrated across the school

The international day to acknowledge the importance of  diversity of languages was celebrated today at school.  Both Primary and Secondary sections combined to read in their home language for the first hour this morning.  Older students read to younger ones, often in their shared, non-English, language.  At lunchtime BIS Live presented music and poetry in Korean, Spanish and English.

Our library is happy to accept donations of books in a language other than English, so if your child has outgrown a book please consider giving it to the school.  Currently we have a reasonable number of books for younger readers, but very little for those in their teens.

We thank the Embassy of China for their generous donation of books in Chinese this week, and appreciate the role that STUCO took in approaching various embassies.

Ms Caroline and Ms MacDonald were the inspiration and drivers behind today’s successful celebration.  A big thanks to everyone who took part!
