Welcome Back!

Dear BIS community,

Welcome back!  All of the staff started school today and are busy preparing for the start of classes on Monday.  We are looking forward to starting the 2016-17 school year next week- it going to be great one!

Last week, we welcomed our new staff members:

Mr. Justin Walsh* – Secondary Principal

Ms. Karli Walsh* – Early Intervention Specialist

Ms. Christy Mathers – Math and Design teacher

Ms. Michelle Sheppard – Science and Drama teacher

In addition, we welcomed Ms Pamela Vollmar, who will be with us teaching math through Ms. Wood’s maternity leave and Mr. Tim Sheppard who will be teaching G5 during Ibu Nadia’s maternity leave.

Ms. MacDonald will also begin her maternity leave this week.  While she is on leave, Ms. Walsh will be substituting for her.

I am pleased to inform you that we have two new responsibility posts starting this year as well.

Mr. Hamish Sutherland has been appointed our Student life Coordinator.

Ibu Deb Plant has been appointed our Early Years Coordinator.

Both Mr. Sutherland and Ibu Deb have the background and experience that we need to continue to grow as a school.  Please join me in congratulating them on these new posts.

On Thursday  this week we will welcome our new students.  At this point, we are expecting 50-55 new students to join us for this academic year.  The PTFA is already busy planning to support us with a sausage sizzle to welcome the new families and I would like to thank them all for their time and effort on our behalf.

I am looking forward to seeing you all soon.  If you haven’t yet managed to rest up for the start of the school year – start now – this week will go quickly.
