SENIOR BOYS FOOTBALL REPORT
Senior boys football
What a fantastic season for the boys! We won the IISSAC tournament in Bandung and the BSSA senior tournament at AIS. In the process the boys must have racked up close to 30 goals for and 5 conceded. Still room for improvement from next year’s team! All the games from IISSAC are available on youtube at: https://www.youtube.com/us er/BAISedu/videos
The boys gained numerous accolades with their performances this season. After the first game, a 6-0 win against the IISSAC hosts BAIS, opposition coaches were already asking about how the boys played so well together and tipping the boys to easily win the tournament. It is a testament to them that they did not let this go to their heads and concentrated on playing football in the right way and showing respect on the field to the opposition and each other.
The boys also showed great resilience after drawing a game in which nothing went right for them against SIS. They grouped together and made sure they won the next game playing with the style and control they had become known for. It was fantastic to see that the boys also put the hurt of last year firmly behind them and used it as an incentive to ensure victory in both IISSAC and BSSA. Their victories are a true reflection of the development in their mental attitude and belief in each other and the team. A fuller match report from both tournaments will be included in the school magazine Vanguard. The magazine will be out in December so try to get your hands on a copy!
It will be very hard to recreate this team in the future, if ever. We will sorely miss the 12th graders next year. Their dedication and drive not only inspired the younger players in the team by demonstrating the commitment needed in training and games but has significantly helped the development of next year’s IISSAC squad.
