Facilities upgrades /Construction plans
Dear BIS Community,
I am very pleased to announce that we will soon begin some construction / upgrades to the campus!
First, we will be knocking down the current PE shed and starting construction of a 2 story building which will eventually be home to the nurse’s office, security, photocopying, PE staff, IT staff and a campus shop. This may commence prior to the start of the holiday.
This construction will take several months, perhaps until the end of the school year. During this time, the area will be cordoned off with an metal fence and it will be off-limits to students/parents and non-construction personnel.
During the holiday, we will be upgrading the irrigation system on the pitch and we will also be removing the 2 containers and facilities area to the NE corner of the north parking lot. You may have seen the initial measuring work already in progress.
We will then extend the covered courts slightly towards the road to allow for the bleachers to be set up without interfering with the courts and alter the drainage on that side.
The PTFA is in discussion with me at the moment about using the money they have raised for the school in a special project to create a garden/park/ waiting area in the remainder of this space. They are considering building a coffee shop, sourcing fans, chess sets, etc… Ideally, this space will be ready in June for the next school year and students /parents will use this area when they are waiting.
For a couple of weeks, we may need to access the nurse by going through the facilities gate. However, we are now in the process of planning a few moves to make access to her easier. The nurse will move, temporarily, into the current book room next to the primary office.
So, we have exciting times ahead! There may be some inconveniences through this time, so I would like to ask for your patience and flexibility.
Thank you,
Denise Walsh
