FRIDAY NEWSLETTER from Secondary – 22nd Sept 2017
Week 7-International Living is Flexible
As a result of the Volcano warning and information that we have received from our sources within both the Australian and US Consulates, as well as information from the governing bodies here in Bali BIS has decided to postpone our EOTC trips until conditions are safer. As you can see from the image below the majority of our camps would be effected if the threat continues to rise. We are in continuous contact with all of the groups mentioned above and are also working hand in hand with our excursion providers to ensure that we will be able to run a safe, engaging and enjoyable EOTC experience. As we receive more information we will provide updates to the BIS community. Thank you for your flexibility.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences are a perfect opportunity to work as a team towards the educational growth of our students. The more that we are able to share information, provide feedback and support the better able we are to help our students reach their potential.
We will be having Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 5th from 1pm-6pm. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:30 on that day and any Secondary ASA will not be able to run as our teachers will be meeting with you, the parents. Please make sure that your student has been picked up from school as there will be no way to supervise the students. Students are welcomed to come to their conferences, but they must arrive with their parent. To help facilitate our sign-up process, parents will be given the ability to electronically setup a conference time instead of having to come in, line up, and see if a teacher will be available to meet. We ask that parents and students prioritize the teachers they would like to meet with, as schedules will fill very quickly. This information and electronic link will be sent out in the coming week.
BSSA-Dragons Soar!
I was fortunate enough to watch some very high quality soccer games Wednesday afternoon. It was so nice to see so many of our secondary students actively engaged, running around and having a great time. It was also really nice to see some of our older students take on some leadership roles through coaching. It was really impressive to see how far some of the younger students have come and the overall level of sportsmanship that our students exhibited. A big Congratulations to our Senior Boys and Girls teams for coming in first in the finals, as well as the 13-15 girls. Great Job!
ASA’s will End this coming Friday
This coming week will mark the end of our ASA’s for the first term. Please remind your students to look at the offerings for the second term, or come up with some ideas of their own! Many of our successful ASA’s have been student driven. I look forward to seeing the continued engagement.
First Term Reports
Our first term is drawing to a close. With that comes our first term reports. It is our hope that there is nothing in these reports that comes as a surprise, in particular with the opening of ManageBac for both students and parents. The more we communicate the better we can support. It is also important to remember that these reports are simply a progress report. This is an indication of where your student is right now, not who they are forever. We continue to foster growth and these reports, with the emphasis on work habits and developmental comments, are a reminder of that growth mindset we are looking to develop for all of our students. Thank you again for your continued interest and support of your students growth and learning here at BIS
Thank you for your continued interest and support of BIS and our students.
Kind Regards,
