Staffing news for 2018-19
Dear BIS Community,
I am pleased to say that our recruitment for next year is complete!
We have had some internal moves: Ms. Turner is going to join Mr. Sutherland in the PE department and Ms. Hughes will be taking on the position of Early Years Coordinator.
As you know, Mr. Garth Wyncoll was hired by the Board to be the next Head of School last September. I invited him to campus last week and he joined me in the selection process for the Primary and Secondary Principals. I am pleased to say that we have appointed Ross Ferris to be the next Secondary Principal and Craig Eldred to be the next Primary Principal. All three gentlemen have written a message for the community which is included in this week’s e-news.
Our other new hires are:
Anna and Nathaniel (Nat) Erickson – Anna will be a lower Secondary generalist (English/EAL/Humanities) and Nat will be the IT manager and teach design technology. They are joining us, with their three children, from Saudi where they are currently working. They have also had further international experience in schools in Mali and China.
Canan Cerment and Murat Gokalp – Canan will be teaching MYP Science and ESS and Murat will join the Math department. They will be joining us from China and bringing with them extensive experience in the MYP and DP.
Jackie Wyncoll – Jackie will be joining the student support team and working with primary students who require SEN or EAL support or extension. Jackie has worked in Ecuador, Nigeria and the Philippines.
Lucy Taylor – Lucy will be teaching Spanish ab intio and supporting EAL students in the Secondary School. Lucy is currently working in England, but has had experience in international schools in Malawi and Switzerland.
Rachael Gerbic – Rachael will be joining us as the whole school counsellor (social/emotional) and college counsellor. Rachael has had extensive experience in international schools in the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Spain, Indonesia, Brazil, Portugal and Ecuador. She will be joined by her husband and daughter.
Sarah Alborn – Sarah will be teaching MYP and DP Drama. She has extensive experience in these programmes as well as in international schools in Hong Kong and China.
Whitney Warren – Whitney will be teaching in our Pre-K. Whitney is coming to us from a school in the Sudan and has further experience of international schools in Mexico and Columbia. Whitney is an experienced PYP practitioner.
We have started the orientation and transition process with all of our incoming staff members. They all have ‘Bali buddies’ from our returning staff who will help them negotiate the logistics of living here as well as contact with our leaving staff for handover of curriculum and responsibilities.
With these hires, I feel assured that BIS will continue to offer a World-Class education to our community.
Best regards,
Denise Walsh
Head of School
