CCS GINBali 2018
From the 2nd to the 4th of March, Raslisha, Lyndon and Elina attended the Global Issues Networking Conference CCS GINBali 2018.
Hosted by Canggu Community School, the conference introduced BIS students to many new ideas and concepts in approaching the Global Issues that impact on the world today and in the future.
Lindsay Porter was the opening keynote speaker, her presentation highlighting the impact of pollution on our oceans. The students were also witness the screening of her movie “A Plastic Ocean”. The conference was also privileged to receive keynote addresses from Isabel and Melati, co-founders of Bye Bye Plastic Bags as well as Gupta Sitorus, an entrepreneur and eco-activist.
Apart from keynotes, there were many valuable breakout sessions, such as: Aquaponics, Biospheres: sustainable food, and Plasticology.
Ralisha led our students in presenting a workshop on the importance of bees in our lives, especially in relation to the harvesting and consumption of food. She also ran a stall at the “Passion Fair” which exhibited candles and various other artifacts made from the natural wax produced by bees.
The students conducted themselves in the most positive manner throughout and gained compliments from teachers of CCS and chaperones from other schools. A big thank you also goes to Christy Mathers for chaperoned the students on the Friday evening, along with Ibu Ratih who assisted with the setup of the Bees stall at the Fair.
