BIS Literacy Day is Fri, September 7 featuring Periplus Book Fair and more (Secondary)
Friday, September 7th is World Literacy Day and in addition to day-long celebrations and activities throughout BIS, the day before (Thursday, September 6th and continuing through to Friday) the BIS Library will host a book fair in conjunction with Periplus bookstore.
There will be a collection of books for purchase varying in age range/grade level (adults too) in all different genres. Students (and parents) are encouraged to come to the library during these 2 days to explore the offerings and hopefully make some additions to their home book collections so BIS students can have additional literary materials available to them at home.
Periplus will be giving BIS approximately 3 million Rupiah in free book vouchers to promote the event as well as giving a percentage of sales back to the Library so we can further enhance our collection. Be on the lookout for disbursement of these vouchers. There will also be a school wide silent-read on the Primary field from 7:45-8:15. We invite all learners and parents to bring (or checkout from the library) something to read and relax with us that Friday.
Additionally, there will be other activities Secondary students can participate in, including a “word board” where students can create various sentences/phrases using hundreds of plastic laminated words on both the display board in front of the Counselor’s office and the display board adjacent to Room 9.
More info to come….
