Parent Information Session Update
In order to provide parents of G11 and G12 students information about the college application process as soon as possible in the year, we have switched the dates of two of our sessions. The new dates are:
October 15 – (For Parents of Grade 11 & 12) College Readiness
In this parent session, we will look at the timeline for preparing college applications starting in grade 11 and discuss what colleges are looking for in applicants. We will look at the various parts of the application, the counselor’s role and the student’s role, and what specific items are submitted to colleges during the application process. There will also be plenty of time for questions.
November 12 – (All Parents) What Parents Need to Know about Technology
In this session Mr. Erickson (Technology Coordinator) and Mrs Gerbic (Counselor) will discuss a number of topics relating to children and technology use. If you have any specific question you would like us to discuss please let us know at itcoordinator@baliis.net
One excellent resource for parents we will discuss is Common Sense Media. If you haven’t seen it already, check it out to find many quality resources for parents (click the “For Parents” tab on top) relating to children and technology. Examples include: suggested guidelines for various ages, parent centered reviews of media popular with kids, digital citizenship, and much more.
