Message from the Head of School – November 30, 2018

This morning, the Primary students led by Ibu Isti, sang a wonderful rendition of “I get by with a little help from my friends” by the Beatles. This was coming off a mindfulness session with our Counselor Ibu Rachael. This was prior to our Jr. StuCo telling the student body which projects they were working on to improve our school. What a great morning – I love my job!

I had a formal introduction to Mr. Rainy Season on Thursday. While we will do our best to fill some potholes and regrade our parking lots over the next several weeks, I will be out this weekend looking for a pair of galoshes and a poncho. Our students run from class to class doing their best to avoid the rain drops, but I would encourage you to provide a sweatshirt or rain jacket and an umbrella so that they are in a comfortable learning state for each lesson.

Our Secondary Program, grades 10-12, received a rating of “A” earning 94 points by the Ministry of Education. I would like to thank our Board Members for working tirelessly and producing the required documentation as needed, for meeting with the two accreditors and for assisting our wonderful team of Indonesian educators over the weeks prior to the visit. Ibu Lea, Aulia, Yunita, Putu, Dewi and Sri were highly involved and deserve a huge Bali Island School round of applause! I am receiving calls from all around Indonesia asking how did we do it, and I am saying proudly – speak to Ibu Lea!

Our pool work continues. The crew is now replacing tiles and next week they will connect the two new lines to the pumps. The rain isn’t helping so we are now looking at the pool being fully functional on January 7.

Reminder: I will present the “Financial Health of BIS” on December 12 at 8:00 a.m. in the library.
