PTA eNews Update, January 11, 2019
Welcome back to you all! We are excited to be back after a relaxing break and look forward to catching up and hearing all about your holiday adventures!
The PTA is a forum for teachers, parents and the school administration to share ideas and organise events to enhance the learning and social opportunities within the BIS community. We welcome any new ideas and to anyone who is willing or able to help out for any of these events – we are very grateful and look forward to hearing about any new ideas and experiences.
The PTA would like to take this opportunity to invite all parents to the following events planned for January.
First PTA meeting for 2019!
The PTA January Meeting will be held on Wednesday 16 January from 8-9 am in the Library. We welcome you all to come along and share some ideas and have the opportunity to discuss current plans and initiatives. Any contributions you are able to make to the PTA in enhancing the opportunities within the school community are very welcome. Coffee and Tea provided! Hope to see you there!
New Parents’ Coffee Morning- The Courtyard, 8am, Friday January 18
The PTA invites all members of the school community (not just new parents!)to The New Parents Welcome Coffee Morning, to be held in the Courtyard on 18 January at 8am. It is a wonderful opportunity for us all to catch up after the holidays! The PTA invites you all to come along and get to know our new parents, help them feel welcome and answer any questions they may have about BIS and life in Bali in general. The PTA is also working on a ‘New Parents’ Directory’ to ease new families into life on this beautiful island. If you have any ideas about what should be included in the Directory, please let the PTA know by email pta@baliis.net or check out the Bali Island Parents’ Facebook Page @BISPTABali. Or you can just tell us about your ideas at the coffee morning! Hope to see lots of ‘old’ and ‘new’ faces there!
PTA Discovery Group
The Discovery Group (the PTA’s opportunity to explore new parts of Bali Island) has been postponed until February. If you have any ideas about where we can go in February, please let us know!
Grade 5 Bake Sale: Wednesday 16 January
From 2.45pm under the Grade 1 bale, The Bake Sale will be run by Grade 5 and the Second Hand Uniforms will also be available. Please come along and stock up on some treats! As many as you like! Proceeds go toward PTA initiatives.
2018 Mindfulness Activity
Casa Vida Donation Update: The PTA’s 2018 Mindfulness Activity was an opportunity for the school community to reflect upon and be ‘mindful’ of what we have to offer the communities we live side-by side with in Bali, and to express gratitude for living in this beautiful place. In the week before Christmas, two PTA members and their children went to the Casa Vida Orphanage to donate the Mindfulness Activity gifts and spend some time playing games and doing fun activities together. We were asked not to take photos at the orphanage, but we can tell you that the children were thrilled with their gifts, and the Centre Co-ordinator passes on her heart felt thanks for the thoughtfulness and generosity of the BIS community.
Thank you to all who contributed to this wonderful initiative by donating money for the gifts and buying the reusable cloth wrapping bags sewn by the sewing Group at BaliLife Suwung Community Centre.
