Message From the Head of School – April 17, 2020

Thank you for joining me for our Virtual Coffee. It was so nice to see so many parents and connect. We really appreciate all of the support for our Distance Learning Programs. Highlights from the HoS Virtual Coffee:

  • Synchronous (face to face) learning provides students and teachers opportunities to feel connected, a part of a learning community and for real-time collaboration to occur.
  • Asynchronous (on your own) learning provides students more ownership over their time. Approaches to learning skills are key here, use those command terms to help your child to make connections to school life.
  • Parents are encouraged to communicate with BIS when education at home hits rough patches. We can support your child through those times because we know him/her so well.
  • BIS Digital Learning is hitting all targets.
    • Best Practice shared in the education literature
    • Pivoting in response to student/parent feedback
    • Caring for our student’s well-being
    • Providing students with Choice and Voice

I’d like to announce an opportunity for our community to connect on a range of different subjects weekly on Thursday from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Bali time. I will host a chat about a current topic in education. The first podcast is Dr. Marc Brackett and Brene Brown on “Permission to Feel”. Please listen to it prior to the chat so we can discuss it. I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday, April 23 at 8:00 a.m. Here’s the meeting information below:
