Message From the Head of School – August 21, 2020

Meet the Teachers

You are invited to attend a Meet the Teachers event at BIS from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Instead of holding one event for the entire school, we will hold Grade Level events. This allows parents to meet the teachers of their child’s class while following our covid protocols.  All of our safety measures will be in place.

Your parent representative will be in touch to learn if you will attend. If the majority of parents will attend we will proceed, if not we will move the meeting to a zoom call. Either way we will Zoom (and record) for parents who are out of the country or unable to attend in person.

Secondary BIS students will provide child care so parents are able to attend.

Please mark your calendar for your Grade Level – Meet the Teachers:

And here’s the following few weeks for your planning purposes:

Service as Action / Community, Action and Service

As an IB World School, each community member is tasked with developing the ability to see the world through the eyes of another, to develop one’s ability to empathize and to take purposeful action. This responsibility for our BIS Community is certainly being challenged by Covid’s impact on our world. How will we react? Will BIS continue to provide assistance to those in need?

Through our MYP and DP Programmes, students will be brainstorming ways we can provide sustainable assistance and solutions to our community’s needs. Our Taman Bacaan students continue to learn English, maybe your child would like to assist on Saturdays and Sundays via Zoom calls. The Les Village, a community up in the North of Bali, continues to need our assistance, some people are struggling to find work, or to feed their families, some animals are starving as their owners have left the country and our environment still needs cleaning up- how can we help?

Please have these important conversations at home, encouraging your child to passionately find ways to help others.

Over the next couple of weeks, students in MYP Hour will reflect on their character strengths and how they can best put them in service of others. It’s important to get students involved again, especially during this pandemic as many aspects of our community need our help.  From our meeting next week we hope to organize groups for students to join and start our Service as Action – more information will be provided in time.

BIS Facilities

Please use this form to reserve the BIS Facilities. Please remember that a parent (not a pembantu/driver) must accompany your child. Thank you.
