Message from the Head of School – June 4, 2021

Celebrations
We celebrated our Graduating Class of 2021 last Friday and our Grade 5 PYP Graduates yesterday. Last night the Arts Department and students in grades 8-11 shared their incredible talents. Next week we will witness Grade 6-7 Arts performances at 5:00 p.m. and hold Secondary Awards Assemblies by grade level on Wednesday and Thursday. Well done to each student for doing your best through this challenging year, and thank you – parents – for supporting your child’s academic journey.

Summer Plans
I will communicate throughout the summer providing updates about our plans for learning in August and any updates regarding travel/quarantine regulations as it relates to accessing the BIS campus.

August Forecast
I am very hesitant to put in writing that I am optimistic of being able to provide more access to our teachers and campus in August – and yet here I go. Here’s why:

  • The Minister of Education maintains his position that schools in Indonesia will open in July
  • All BIS Faculty and Staff will have received the full vaccination
  • Our relationships with the Banjar, Covid Task Force, and Health and Education Dinas remain strong, collaborative, and cooperative

As of today, our Covid protocols remain our current practice. Find them here.

Terima kasih banyak
For those families who are leaving the island, thank you for your trust in Bali Island School to be a part of your child’s learning journey. Your child has added a great deal to our diversity, to his/her classmate’s ability to develop global mindedness and will be greatly missed. Ibu Lilik will send an Exit Survey on June 9. We hope you take a few minutes to provide us with important feedback that will help us continue on our school improvement path. If you would prefer to provide me feedback directly, I would be happy to hear from you as well.

For those families choosing to remain a member of the Bali Island School Community, thank you for your continued trust in our school. I do not take your trust for granted and will continue to seek your feedback to help craft a positive path forward for all of our students.
