Message from the Head of School – September 24, 2021

Travel within the Province of Bali – Travel outside the Province of Bali
With the October holiday approaching, I’d like to remind everyone of our Covid protocols. If you are staying within Bali Province you will be welcome to campus come Term II. If you travel outside Bali Province, please ensure you remain off campus until you have tested negative using a PCR test on the 6th day after returning to Bali. Many thanks to everyone for helping us keep our community safe.

Lunch at BIS
FunBites and Smorgas will begin providing lunch options for our students soon. In order to streamline the ordering process and reduce contact opportunities, we have asked each food provider to create a form with which you will order lunch. Payment will be made directly to the provider’s bank account (Smorgas) or directly at the Courtyard (Funbites).

Primary students in grades 2-5 whose parents order using this service will have their lunch delivered to the classroom.

Secondary students will pick up their lunch orders from designated tables in the covered court and then eat with their classmates in the assigned area of campus. All providers will use recyclable containers and observe our no plastic rule.

Both food providers maintain current Covid Health and Safety protocols for restaurants. The Green Team at BIS will provide forks if students require one. As always, students are welcome to bring their own lunch from home and store it in the refrigerators at school.

Grade 11 and 12 students will test out our food vendor’s ability to provide lunch after a long delay of service beginning on Monday, September 27.

MYP Students will be able to use the food vendors beginning Monday, October 4.

Students in Grade 2 and above will be able to order as we begin Term II, October 19, 2021.

FunBites is not open to MYP students at breaks or lunch for daily orders for health and safety purposes.

Please find the menus below:

Start of Term III
Term III begins on January 10, 2022. The first 5 days will be completely distance learning allowing our community the opportunity to travel to their home country (if they so choose) and be in quarantine for the first week as currently required. In this way, we can provide the full holiday, and begin learning on schedule while ensuring a full and much-needed holiday to all community members.

Secondary Reports
Please be aware of the Secondary reporting timeline. Reports will be sent via email on October 1 accompanied by the sign-up sheet for virtual conferences. On October 8, Primary and Secondary students and parents are invited to virtual conferences with your child’s teacher(s)

Last year provided us the opportunity to conduct conferences in the virtual format. We have concluded that the experience allowed parents to join the conversation while remaining at home/work. Most importantly, it allowed us to have safe conferences. The conversations remained powerful and informative. We will continue with this protocol this October 8.
