Message from the Head of School – April 1, 2022

My birthday present came early this year! 231 students walked through the gates with smiles on their faces today – what a great day we had today at BIS! As Laura, a grade 12 student said to me – your present is our presence – so true!

Mike Miller, the incoming Head of School, will be on campus in a couple of weeks to meet with Board members, Faculty and Staff, Students and Parents. He and I have been working closely over the past 4 months to hire our new teaching staff and I can tell you he is the right man for the job. Mike will lead BIS from strength to strength. Mike would appreciate meeting parents on Thursday, April 14 from 2:15-2:45 in the covered court. He looks forward to greeting you then!

BIS COVID Prevention

  1. Please immediately inform the HoS if Covid is confirmed.
  2. Stay at home if you feel unwell at all even if your symptoms are not directly connected to Covid.
  3. Children who are not feeling well are asked to stay home, please ring the school to report their absence. Children need to be 24 hours clear of symptoms and medication before returning to school.
  4. All persons entering the BIS campus must wear a mask for the entire duration of their time at school. This mask must be a surgical, N95, or three-layered mask that fits the individual in a way that completely covers the mouth and nose comfortably.
  5. A replacement/spare mask needs to be kept in the student’s backpack (Ziploc bag if cloth masks).
  6. All students must have a daily signed Student Health Card indicating a normal temperature was recorded at home with no signs and symptoms of sickness or he/she will not be permitted to enter campus.
  7. All must remain vigilant of his/her surroundings and maintain physical distance (1.5 m or more)
  8. All must wash hands repeatedly throughout the day – please bring a hand towel to help us save the planet’s resources.
  9. All must self-monitor their health and report any changes to the nurse/teacher immediately. It is important that we think of the safety of others as well as ourselves. Ensure you are continuing to wear a mask in public outside of school hours.

Updated Covid Protocols
The health committee has redesigned our health protocols to have BIS live with Covid in a more sustainable way placing greater importance on student learning. Update of BIS Covid Procedures – March 18, 2022.

Student Attendance
Primary parents are responsible to inform our school secretary Ibu Deni (Primary) if their child is sick. Secondary attendance to Ibu Riana.

Please visit the school clinic to meet Ibu Surya, our nurse on the returning day for the final check. If students get sick during the day, Ibu Surya will call the parents to notify and pick the child up

As the goal is to provide an opportunity for rest and recuperation, online learning will not be available during this time. If your child feels well enough, they may wish to read or use some of our online subscriptions such as RAZ Kids, Lexia, and Mathletics. If after 72 hours, your child is well enough to work from home but is not yet ready to come back on campus, please communicate this with the homeroom teacher who will arrange to provide online learning on a case-by-case basis.

Please remember that any absence (over 48 hours requires a doctor’s note). If there are any questions or concerns regarding student’s sick protocol, please contact Ibu Surya: nurse@baliis.net or WA: 62 813-3870-2000

Primary Waiting Area
Please use the Primary South Gate to pick up your child. In order to better maintain physical distance when picking up your child at 2:20-2:35 and 2:40-2:55, please use the new tented area or sit under an umbrella in the Primary lunch area (3 to a table). On rainy days, please pick up your child/ren directly from the class with raincoats & umbrellas. Thanks!

Thank you for your efforts to be extremely careful around our parking areas during the busy times of dropoff and pickup.

Enjoy the weekend!
