Maths Department
Grade 12
Graduated on May 27, 2022. All the best for the final result on July 6, 2022!
Grade 10
Grade 10 had an intense year. The idea was to prepare them for DP. We had a great session on step up day. The students have already decided which option to choose – A&A or A&I. The Maths department wishes all the best to our new DP cohort of 2022!
Grade 9
For the Trigonometry unit, Grade 10 students are designing a working model to calculate the height of a tall building. For this, the students designed their own klinometer and they will use this device to measure the height of an object in our school campus.
Grade 8
The Grade 8 students did some investigations on Probability, comparing the difference between theoretical and experimental probabilities by rolling 6, 12, and 20-sided dice.
Grade 7
For the “shapes and solid” units, Grade 7 designed a tea box with a given volume. The idea was to create a tea box that can contain a given volume but the surface area has to be minimum. The minimum surface area will bring down the cost of packaging while keeping the required volume. Students were asked to present their designs to the parents on 23rd May 2022.
Grade 6
In the Geometry Unit, the Grade 6 students learned about the different types of angles, including angles that are formed when a transversal intersects parallel lines. They created posters to classify the types of angles.
TOK – Exhibition
Yesterday, the 2nd of June, students from grade 11 presented their TOK exhibition. The afternoon was opened with a panel discussion by which parents and grade 10 students were welcomed into the world of Theory of Knowledge. For those who did not have the opportunity to join yesterday, you can find the prompts and objects the students selected here.
For those who participated, thanks again for your interesting thoughts and discussion. We hope to see you all next year for a new round of TOK-Talks.
