Indonesian students have always been excited to welcome August as the month of Indonesia’s Independence Day celebration. Each class was assigned to be involved in preparing the celebration with varied activities. It has a pivotal role in cultivating intercultural awareness, open-mindedness and respect for the host country’s historical moment.
Grade 7-8 were assigned to perform in the Indonesian song lip sync battle. With the rehearsal time constraint, they were challenged to exhibit confidence and entertaining touch to the performance while trying to understand what the song is all about to the audience.
Grade 9-10 were assigned for the flag ceremony, Balinese dance performance and assembly. Dodey, Willa, Asher, Marvel and Maia volunteered as the flag bearers and masters of ceremonies. Mischa, Kristina, Yunsol and Lindi volunteered for the Puspanjali dance. While Lola and Ayden volunteered for the assembly MC. They have displayed a risk taker attribute when conducting the assignments.
Grade 11 was assigned to collaborate in creating a video compilation of Indonesia’s historical journey to gain independence.
To enliven the celebration, the class door decoration contest was held for the whole school. With a certain allotted preparation time, creativity and class collaboration, students came up with diverse and unique ideas to be showcased for the decoration.
There was also a food festival during the celebration where Indonesian snacks, nibbles and finger foods were provided by the Indonesian parents’ community and the school to give opportunity for all school community to taste the Indonesian delicacies.
With the support from STUCO, Indonesian traditional fun games were held to excite the students and staff and at the same time to grow the teamwork spirit.
Thank you to all students, teachers, staff and parents who have put in their efforts, support, commitment and enthusiasm to bring these festivities to become meaningful learning that goes beyond the confines of the classroom and fosters cultural diversity.

We have an extensive collection of “Secondary” books, both fiction and nonfiction, that would be of interest to adults as well. We have over 350 new books this year and we try to obtain the most popular titles. Stop by; the sign up process only takes a few moments. And please also follow the BIS Library on Instagram!

Grade 12 students have been working on studying social issues such as gender equality and discrimination. Specifically, we have been focusing on discrimination against women in the workplace and at home. In this presentation, they are imagining a world only inhabited by women.
El descubrimiento del Planeta Nueve es Muy Loco. ¿Qué significa esto para la tierra?

Los Científicos de Nasa descubren un nuevo planeta. El nombre del planeta es Feastil. Yo tomé una astronave para visitar el planeta. Desde mi astronave vi el planeta que se ha descubierto tiene la forma de planeta es elipsoide y el color es azul, similar a la tierra.
Cuando yo llegué las mujeres me saludaron. ¡Científicos saben que el planeta tiene humanos pero no sabemos si son solamente mujeres!
El trabajo es bastante similar al de la tierra, excepto que no hay militares porque las mujeres están todas unidas y no hay trabajo de militar. Si no hay hombres en el planeta, podría ser difícil que el planeta crezca y sobrevivir por mucho tiempo.La población disminuye a medida que la gente envejece.

Estimado señores:
Les escribimos este correo electrónico para informarles de las características que encontramos en nuestro viaje a Kepler-186f. El planeta que visitamos está habitado solo por mujeres que son muy similares a nosotros los humanos. Por lo tanto, decidimos nombrar a este planeta “Femeninaria”.
Femeninaria es un planeta con un ciclo diario muy similar al de la Tierra. Su día es de 21 veintiún horas y el año de 369 (treinta y sesenta y nueve) días. En realidad, este planeta tenía tanto machos como hembras. Sin embargo, debido a una devastadora pandemia dirigida específicamente a los hombres, todos se han extinguido.
No hay estratificación social en este planeta. Todos son tratados de manera justa e igualitaria. Y, por supuesto, no hay odio femenino en Femeninaria.
Sin embargo, a medida que pasa el tiempo, no hay forma de reproducirse y hay menos trabajadores en labores manuales a pesar de que las mujeres lo hacen lo mejor que pueden. Provoca menos horas extraordinarias de población y menos desvíos.

El descubrimiento de un nuevo planeta+

Mientras recorre el espacio nosotros descubrimos un planeta con vida extraterrestre. El codigo del planeta es 123CE345 y el planeta se llama “Ran S”. Aquí están los cimientos de nuestra expedición a las olas del planeta.
Este planeta tiene siete lunas y es el doble del tamaño de nuestra tierra. El planeta es azul, donde consiste principalmente de agua, solo el 10% del planeta está cubierto de tierra. Debido al tamaño de Ran S, el día dura 52 (cincuenta y dos) horas, y un año aquí equivale a 2,5 (duos punto cinco) de la tierra.
La poblacion del Ran S es muy pequeña, y consiste solo hay personas femenino. Los habitantes se llaman Renismas. La pequeña población de habitantes vive en edificios de gran altura desarrollados. Cuando tuvimos que comunicarnos con la población local, nosotros seria utilizaríamos inteligencia artificial.
Las Renismas crían niños en comunidad, y el concepto de género y familia no existe en el planeta de Ran S. Las Renismas han desarrollado una fuerte producción agrícola, y su principal fuente de alimentación son los animales acuáticos.
Como las Renismas tienen una sociedad desarrollada, hay una gran variedad de profesiones disponibles. Como su población es tan pequeña, algunos trabajos son realizados por robots.
Con suerte, podemos establecer una relación amistosa diplomática con el planeta Ran S.
Ranismas pronto visitarán la Tierra.

Students have started to work on some great projects together. While phases 5 and 6 students are discovering new books, phase 4 students are exploring the world of emotions and drawing mind maps to help them learn their new vocabulary. Phases 1 and 2 students are working together to review or learn the bases of the French language, through peer teaching and games. Finally, DP students already learnt their first type of text : the blog.

Update from AP Exam School Year 2022-2023
For students in grades 11 and 12 who would like to register the AP exam in May 2023, please contact Ibu Thari in the Counseling Office at: counselorsecretary@baliis.net
The 2023 AP Exams will be administered in school following the regular schedule in May 2023: May 1–5 and May 8–12. Registration deadline November 15th, 2022 – additional fee applied to each exam for the late registration
