Message from the Head of School – November 11, 2022

Recall that due to the G20 summit occurring, BIS will be teaching online from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th November at 1200pm.  After 12pm, teachers will be engaged in professional development and strategic planning work. Friday 18th is a holiday. Students return to campus on Monday 21st November. Please ensure that your child/children has access to the internet, a device to work on (not just a phone) and that they are in a well lit comfortable area that supports the learning process. If you have any questions regarding assessment or learning materials or modes, please do feel free to contact your teacher. We appreciate your understanding in dealing with this inconvenience.

The proposed school calendar for academic year 2023-24 has just been finalized and will be shared with the community soon to allow you to make plans for travel and other arrangements.

We have discussed the JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) policy committee formation and now seek parent volunteers.  If you wish to help make a difference in this important area of school life by joining the committee/working group, please contact me via headofschool@baliis.net and I shall be happy to add you to the committee. We seek 2-3 parents.

We are very proud of who we are in terms of maintaining high standards of dress code. Our students are our ambassadors off campus, and on campus, we are so happy to see our students so well turned out. However, please recall that every Thursday, students are required to wear a Batik in recognition and honor of our wonderful host country. On Fridays, students are strongly encouraged to wear house colors. Please do help us maintain this tradition of Batik wearing on a Thursday by ensuring your child wears one.

Our Core Values are derived from the IB learner profile attributes and this is an area of school life that, as a community, we expect all of our community members to aspire towards. If you are unsure of what these are, please have a discussion with your child/children about how they model these attributes, and how they can help you also model them. After all, children learn best by observing
