Message from the Head of School – November 25, 2022
There has been a marked increase in the number of students now wearing Batiks on a Thursday. Thank you so much for honoring this and for ensuring that your child/children wear their batiks. It is very much part of our culture, and I appreciate your efforts in helping our community acknowledge this.
The PTA has been busy organizing many events to help support our community. Next Friday 02nd December is teacher and staff appreciation day, and we also have a Primary STUCO movie afternoon organized on this same day. The following week on Tuesday 06th December from 1500-1730 is the annual Holiday Market. Please support the PTA and school community in these events in any way you can. See PTA announcements for exact details.
One of the recent parental suggestions is if I could share some photos of the improvements that are being made around the campus. I am very happy to keep sharing photos of the many investment projects that have been and will continue to take place. This week, I’d like to share with you that the school is investing in 65” Smart TVs to enhance the teaching and learning process. These will in some cases, replace the overhead projectors in some rooms and in other rooms, be used in addition to the overhead projectors. The quality of the display is obviously far superior to an OHP, the lifetime is longer and we will no longer have to spend money on replacement bulbs for the OHP’s. Here is an example of one of the many TVs now installed.
Thank you all for attending the meeting last Tuesday regarding staffing as we move forward into next academic year and beyond. I now hope that we can now all concentrate on our guiding statements and also in continuing to rebuild our community spirit after the struggles of covid during the past two years. I believe that the meeting was a good example of how we can, as respectful and principled community members, listen to each other’s opinions and even if opinions differ, we can acknowledge and accept that. I shall be acting on the suggestions of greater communications and transparency etc. Thank you all for your suggestions and opinions.
Message from our college counselling department:
Dear BIS Community Members,
The Annual BIS Career Day will be held on February, 2023 from 7:45 to 10:00 AM.
We are looking for guest speakers to provide more variety for our students. If you have an interesting career or know someone who has an interesting career and might be able to speak to our students on Career Day, please fill in the details of your recommendation in the Google form. We will send an official invitation via email and further detailed information to the potential guest speakers.
Guest speakers will share information about the day-to-day tasks of their jobs, the required skills, their training and education, what they love about their jobs, and some of the challenges of their jobs. They will be part of a panel with other speakers from the same area of work and will speak for about 10 minutes followed by a Q&A session. The audience consists of Grade 6-12 students who have selected their panel to attend.
