Message from the Head of School – December 9, 2022

In line with the taught curriculum, we strongly encourage that parents provide healthy snacks for students to eat during break times. By this, we discourage fizzy drinks, candies, and sugary style chews, etc. Where possible, it would be in line with what we teach in the curriculum if we could provide snacks that contain fresh fruit, freshly cut vegetables and non-sugary drinks such as yogurts/milk drinks, etc. Your cooperation in helping us educate your children about the benefits of healthy eating and a balanced diet would be highly appreciated. For some ideas, you may consult this site.

Recall that school breaks at 1200 midday on Friday 16th December and reopens for term 3 for students on Thursday January 12th, 2023.

The calendar for the school year 2023-24 is now on the school website and may be found here. Note that if the government needs to make any changes to previously shared holiday dates, we may need to alter the calendar to reflect these changes.

Please see this quote from the Parent-Student handbook:

“The school calendar is published well in advance and placed on the website so that parents can plan their holidays around this and avoid infringements of the Attendance Policy. Parents should not extend school holidays by taking extra days at the beginning or end of terms as learning will continue at school during these times.”

Note that we strongly discourage taking unscheduled absences or extending holidays as assessment is continuous and your child’s grade may be affected by such absences. As we move forward, I would greatly appreciate it if our community could acknowledge and respect the advertised calendar and that such absences are avoided as they affect the child’s grade and place an avoidable work burden on our teachers.

In order to improve efficiency and reliability, the school continues to invest in replacing older versions of IT hardware. We hope that this continued investment will improve many aspects of school life that involve and require IT to function.

Future dates for the diary:

  • School holiday: School closes on Friday 16th December, half day, and recommences for students on Thursday 12th January for term 3, as per our school calendar.
  • Wednesday 18th January: school closed for national/local holiday.
