STUCO Virtual Assembly – 24th April 2020

Hello Everyone,

We have completed our fourth week of distance learning and I am really enjoying seeing the students meet the desired learning outcomes in classes in many creative ways. Teachers are providing an exciting and engaging range of options for students to demonstrate their learning. Thank you for your continued support at this time, we are all doing our best. We had our first Virtual Secondary Assembly this morning which was organized and run by our wonderful STUCO members.

Taman Bacaan Gift Giving

In this CAS activity, I planned it by asking the previous supervisor for this service, what happened and how this activity was achieved. She said that I needed to have contact with the Taman Bacaan teacher and to discuss how much time I required for the gift-giving to happen and when I should give it to them. My supervisor also gave me tips on how to get people to participate in the event. She recommended that I announce it in the assembly and to tell them when and where this is going to occur while also explaining how this works. Not only that but doing this activity allowed me to better communicate between teachers and Taman Bacaan kids and by using social media or the use of different languages. I believe on the final date of the activity it was a massive success because the Taman Bacaan kids were able to receive many presents and also they were very happy about the gifts. However, to improve I believe that going through different classrooms and encouraging them would be beneficial to the school because most of the gifts that were from were teachers and not students. Also, to encourage students, I believe that giving them a little prize or award would be beneficial in order to influence them to buy gifts for the Taman Bacaan kids. Also, I was able to learn how thankful we should be to have certain privileges and how we should not take it for granted. I also learned that many kids around the world might not have the same kind of opportunity that we have, so we should all consider taking our time caring for others.

STUCO Virtual Assembly – 24th April 2020

By Ralvian Woodhouse

The STUCO team just finished organizing our first virtual assembly! It went stupendously well, but like everything, there are still some improvements to be made. We plan to keep testing and trying out new things to ensure that we bring the best possible communication to the Secondary School. We had a loaded agenda, filled with amazing hilarious videos, several songs, and announcements from STUCO, students, and teachers. We were also anxious to try out our first Live Stream, but the process was relatively simple. We hope you enjoy our first Virtual Assembly and we will see you again soon!
