Message from the Head of School – May 3, 2019
Congratulations to all of our swimmers and coaches for a strong showing at the BSSA Swim Carnival. Well done!
Kib Roby, BIS Board Chair, and I travelled to Jakarta yesterday to attend the ANPS General Meeting. ANPS is a growing organization working with SPK (International) schools here in Indonesia. ANPS will help our school, and all SPK schools, gain recognition with the Ministry which will help us with the accreditation process. I thank the Board for helping BIS develop these important relationships and ties with organizations that are helping SPK schools be better understood and recognized in Indonesia.
While it is hard to say goodbye to our wonderful community members who are leaving at the end of the school year, it gives me great pleasure to introduce our incoming faculty members here. I would like to thank Mr. Eldred, Mr. Ferris and the many faculty members who helped us interview and select this strong group of teachers. I know you will help me in making them feel welcomed to our community in August.
Our Senior class sat their first IB DP Exams today. They are embarking on a very difficult two weeks of exams and are now busy studying and consolidating two years of learning. If you see a Senior in the hallways, library or at school, give them a pat on the back and a word of encouragement. They certainly deserve it.
I am pleased to report that our enrollment figures are trending positively and that our scholarship campaign has created a positive pool of quality applicants. Thank you all for continuing to share the good work that is happening at BIS through your networks.
Carl von Harrach and Eduardo Guzowski commandeered the school’s Instagram account today. If you follow BIS, you will have seen how the Grade 5 students spent their morning. Thanks for your good work boys!
Well done to our Grade 4 team who camped out at BIS last night, worked with the organization Kupu Kupu and spent time today on the rope course — fantastic EOTC learning.
