The S.E. Asian Math Competition (SEAMC)

SEAMC is an annual, international, non-profit mathematics competition aimed at students born after the 1st of January 2001. Schools send one to two teams of three students for a rigorous two days of mathematical challenges and fun activities over five common rounds and extra rounds decided by the host school. There is a healthy competitive spirit, but the emphasis is on providing students with opportunities to build friendships with peers from other schools.

In 2017 the competition dates are from March 2nd-4th. This year SEAMC is also launching SEAMCplus17 Jakarta, a parallel competition for students born on or after the 1st January 1999 open for one team of 3 students from each school.

Bali Island school has competed in all of the last eight competitions and we are looking to see who is interested in taking part in our ninth entry.

Students will be accompanied by Mr Sam Sareen and Miss Christy Mathers on a flight to Jakarta, and will stay in a hotel designated by SEAMC. The estimated total cost of the trip per student is $600(USD) including registration, flights, accommodation and transportation.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to compete in a fun and friendly mathematical environment, meet like minded people from the region and visit Jakarta on a safe and educational trip. All transportation in Jakarta is organised by SEAMC and more information is available on their website.

If you know your daughter/son is interested, please do RSVP and if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me on ssareen@baliis.net.
There are only limited spaces available, so please don’t leave your response to the last minute. We wish to have our teams selected by September the 25th at the absolute latest.

Kind regards,
Sam Sareen
