From PTFA: Thank you for supporting International Day!

Dear Parents,
TERIMA KASIH – THANK YOU – MATUR SUKSEMA to all for supporting our BIS International Day 2017.
The afternoon was vibrant and buzzing through the variety of colours and creativity displayed by each and every stand. The positive atmosphere spread across the entire field and far beyond.
The true spirit of BIS multi-cultural community became very clear to see and enjoyable to experience. Children and adults alike enjoyed travelling and tasting their way around the world. Our taste buds were spoilt for choice by the offerings of the countries represented at our school. The smiles on the faces of our children were the biggest compliment to the effort, participation and commitment put in by the parent community. The different cultures and traditions together in a festive environment, made us all become citizens of our BIS World Family.
Here are just a few snippets we’ve been gathering from the day:
The Indonesian stall was the largest and displayed traditional dresses from different parts of Indonesia. The students sampled many dishes, with the most popular being Ayam Goreng, Nasi Campur, different types of sambal, and Kerupuk crackers. They also enjoyed making straw bracelets, while the Indonesian moms led us all to a fun line dance!
Team Great Britain’s Marmite Challenge ended in pretty much a draw with equal lovers and haters. In Scone War the ‘Cornwall way’ win the day, and in the Great British Treasure Hunt Jose in Gr 6 put his pin in exactly the right spot (the sheep’s eye!) and picked up the prize, a jar of British sweets. He kindly shared the prize with Grade 1, who came in second with a group pin. Well done Jose!
The French report over 10 cheeses eaten: 5 Camembert, 1 Brie, 1 Bleu, 1 Reblochon, many Babybel, 1 Chèvre and 1 Mimolette.
The Dutch competed in jar throwing, which was very popular with the little ones, as well as the traditional game of Sjoelen.
The German tent was filled with excitement with the close-distance football penalty challenge. They also served 3kg of Frikadelen, 160 servings of apple cake, 300 packets of Haribos, and close to 40 litres of fresh lemonade.
Belgian quiz was not easy, but everyone received a tasty consolation prize.
Team Scandinavia reported that 2kg kilograms of Swedish meatballs were gone within the first 10 minutes.
We would like to extend our most grateful THANK YOU to ALL the parents who generously dedicated their time and resources to turn the BIS Sports Field into such a memorable “Journey Around The World”. A very special thank you to Vanessa, who made the organisation of the entire event look so effortless, and to Briged who dedicated part of her Sunday to ensuring the setup was ready for us on Monday morning.
We would love to hear from you should you have any feedback you would like to share with us – Positive or Criticism – all is most welcome. You can reach us any time via our email address ptfa@baliis.net or our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/240181672759705/.

Kindest regards
