A New Database for Secondary Students via BIS Library

The BIS Library now subscribe to Questia, a well-regarded academic database that is a preferred digital resource for the IB curriculum.

Questia is the world’s largest online collection of complete books, journals and articles. In addition to full text reference books, much of the content is peer reviewed as well as from popular periodicals.  It contains 75,000 e-books, 1,200 periodical subscriptions (with archives available), 400 magazines and 50 newspapers from around the world.

The database also has research tools like the ability to take notes on the articles themselves, easily create and store citations, highlight passages, and search in multiple advanced formats, all in your own personal account.  Additionally, there are 10 video tutorials for students for every step of the research process that, if followed, provides a nice outline for proper research completion.

This database is for students in grades 6 – 12. In order to login, simply use your BIS email address and the password bis123456. Once logged in, the password can be changed. Mr. Marshall is available to show anyone individually how to login and how to use the database.

You can access Questia via the link above or by going to the BIS Library Resources webpage.

In addition to Questia our database subscriptions include JSTORLondon Review of Books (thanks Mr. Wood) and WorldBook, with more databases hopefully on the way.
We also have a collection of quality of world wide web pages available here.
