Mock BIS Indonesian Presidential Election on Tuesday, April 16
On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, BIS will hold a mock Indonesian Presidential election. All BIS staff members as well as students in grades 5 through 12 are eligible to vote in the library throughout the day. At the end of the day, the votes will be tallied up and we will announce the results, which we can then compare to the real results for the actual Election that will be held the following day.
Starting soon we will have Kahoots based on the Election, facts on the library whiteboard about it and hopefully a couple of other things. Election overload is coming….
Voters will have to agree to the following on the 16th before they can cast their ballot, which will require a verbal confirmation and signature:
- Voters agree to vote ONCE. Voters hands will be marked to denote having voted.
- No campaigning/electioneering at the voting site. This includes clothing, propaganda or other content supporting or condemning a particular candidate.
- No intimidating other voters.
- Voters agree to make a responsible, independent choice based on their own preferences (not what you friend tells you to do).
- All votes remain secret and confidential. Do not reveal your choice while at the polling station.
- Identification (school ID, etc) is NOT required. Do not ask to see anyone’s ID or present your own. This is an undemocratic con that undermines freedom!
- STILL NO EATING in the library.
- Other regulations possible (as the Election organizers see fit).
Violations of these agreements will results in the removal of your ballot and possible hard labor. Please come and exercise your right to participate in a democracy on April 16th!
