BIS Swimming Competition 2019

The BIS Swimming Competition 2019 began with stirring renditions of each house’s war cry with students from PS to Gr 12 in full voice. The parents had the chance to select the best cheer squad on their applause’o’meter but with all teams being applauded evenly it was declared a draw.

The junior competition got underway with some very strong swimming in all age groups. Record breaking performances were swum by:

Lachlan Sutherland – U/8 boys 25m Backstroke

Ayden Grosskinsky – 10 yrs boys 50m Backstroke, 9/10 boys 25m Butterfly

Nadia Winkler – 12 yrs 50m Breastroke, 11/12 girls 25m butterfly, U/13 100m Freestyle

The level of participation was particularly impressive and by the end of the junior competition Dewi Sri had a strong lead in the competition:

Dewi Sri – 175, Sariswati – 112, Baruna – 70, Ganesha – 65

The senior competition began at lunch and almost immediately the impact of BIS Swim club was evident with records tumbling:

Dylan Jones – 14 yr boys 50m Freestyle, 50m Breastroke, 50m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle

Adi Llamas – 15 yr boys 50m Freestyle

Natasha Klee – 16+ girls 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle

Jessica Wu – 16+ yr girls 100m Freestyle

Nathan Turner – 16+ yr boys 50m Butterfly

Both the 14 yr boys and 16+ boys were impressive with their participation level necessitating heats in all events.

At the end of the day the senior swimmers from Baruna were able to overcome Dewi Sri’s lead to run out the champion house for 2019.
