Message from the Head of School – March 29, 2019

End of Term III

I am sure you are all ready for a holiday after the week we just had. What an awesome display of all that is wonderful about our community.

  • On Monday our Maintenance Crew began their work to transform our MPR, Aquatics Facility and Library for all of the events in the week ahead – these guys worked tirelessly all week and deserve our thanks! Mr. Ferris and Mr. Eldred attended the IBO Regional Conference in Hong Kong.
  • On Tuesday our Annual Swim Carnival had a great community feel to it, as our supportive parents timed, bbq’d, and cheered us on, our students showed off their learning in Swim classes and our faculty helped out in numerous ways.
  • On Wednesday our PS3-4 and K-1 Swim Fest showcased the progress made in the pool by our Early swimmers. Our production of The Domino Effect transported us to the streets of London and the intricate choreography and interpretation amazed all audience members.
  • On Thursday parents learned directly from their child about the learning process and through their child’s self assessment now understand how to better support areas of strength and growth.
  • On Friday morning the School Development Topic Group met to finalize a survey to help us identify Key Performance Indicators for our school. Again, parent volunteers helped to shape this conversation.
  • Throughout the week we had multiple new family visits and Ibu Lily was aided by helpful BIS parents willing to share their BIS story. Thank you!

Looking ahead, please help us welcome Ms. Carole Denny from the Council of International Schools and Ms. Val Staley from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges during the week of April 15-18.

On April 26 at 2:00 p.m. I will present about the upcoming CIS/WASC/IBO Accreditation.

Enjoy the holiday and thank you for helping to share our story. We have so much to be proud of.
