Message from the Head of School – October 18, 2019

October 18, 2019

Thank you for participating in our International Festival this afternoon. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate our focus on international mindedness. There are core beliefs that help to define BIS. International mindedness is certainly one of those. Our newly minted definition of International Mindedness was unveiled today – thanks to everyone for your valuable input in creating this important statement:

At BIS we believe that international mindedness is respecting diverse perspectives and building empathy by recognizing cultural diversity, commonalities, and understanding the local and global community.

The tents and food on display today were great. The talent, dances, and representation of cultures were strong. Finally, the student speeches about the importance of international mindedness in our lives were truly appreciated. It takes so many parent volunteers to make a celebration like this happen and I would like to thank each of you. Masterminding the entire event is also an amazing effort and we all are grateful to Allison Jaquier for her dedication to our school.

The Young Entrepreneur Market went very well. I am so proud of the work that each of you put into the arts and crafts, jewelry, bags, candles and food on offer. Well done and thank you PTA and Michael Wilson for the support!

Please note a special invitation to the Grade 12 IB DP Theater group’s performance below – Parents from all grade levels are invited – Special Invitation from these three hard-working students.

Grade 12 DP Theatre Invitation

Dear parents,

We are the Grade 12 Theatre group and we would like to invite you to watch our devised piece for our final collaborative project. One of the key components of our collaborative project is inviting our target audience to watch the performance. Therefore, as our targeted audience are parents, we are inviting you to watch our performance on Monday, October 28, 2019, starting from 3 pm – 3:30 pm.

We would really appreciate as many parents to come as it is important for us to receive anonymous feedback on our performance, to then write about in our final submitted portfolio.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Natasha Klee (nklee20@baliis.net).

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
