Message from the Head of School – February 7, 2020

February 7, 2020

BIS remains at Level I of our safety plan regarding the Coronavirus. Thank you to community members who have taken precautions to keep everyone healthy. Remember to keep your child home for 24 hours post fever and until coughs and congestion is clear.

I would like to invite all parents to an information session on the BIS Virtual Learning Platform Plans next Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday is a half day so hopefully coming a few minutes early will be an option for you. We will run this same session again on Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. for parents who can’t make the Tuesday session. We will present on what to expect from a virtual learning experience for your child and how you can be prepared to support their learning at home.

While we have no reason currently to invoke virtual learning, we do want to share our planning in case there is a need.

I would like to congratulate student leaders Radhita and Han, the volunteers and faculty members, Ms. Wood, Mr. Collins and Mr. Gokalp, who assisted in last weekend’s Bali Maths Competition. We had over 100 students from schools in Bali compete. I am proud to announce that Simin earned first place in his age group. Congratulations to all participants and organizers!

BIS students earned first place in last weekend’s Science Fair at Dyatmika school. Congratulations to Nina, Uliana, Kristina and Philip. Fantastic results! Thanks to Ms. Quinn and Ms. Cernan for their assistance in preparing the team.
